Dr. Gloria Vanderhorst, Ph.D., brings more than 30 years of experience in psychology, along with extensive clinical, academic, and professional experience, to her work involving legal and court-related matters.
As a Diplomate of the American College of Forensic Psychologists, Dr. Vanderhorst combines her background in developmental psychology, clinical practice, family systems, and relationship dynamics with a thoughtful understanding of the complexities that can arise in legal proceedings.
Her professional experience has included work in schools, private practice, courtrooms, and multidisciplinary settings. She also has advanced training in mediation and collaborative dispute resolution, providing an additional perspective when psychological and interpersonal factors are relevant to a case.
Dr. Vanderhorst’s career has included serving as Director of Child and Adolescent Services at the Chesapeake ADHD Center of Maryland, founding Vanderhorst & Associates, a multidisciplinary private practice, and serving as a tenured Assistant Professor of Developmental Psychology at Towson University.
She is also the co-editor of The World of Collaborative Practice. Her academic and clinical background allows her to consider psychological questions within the broader context of development, family relationships, and individual functioning.
Dr. Vanderhorst holds a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Bowling Green State University, an M.A. in Experimental Psychology from Indiana State University, and a B.S. in Psychology and Math from Indiana State University. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Family Systems at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
Her additional training includes Internal Family Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy, ADHD and executive functioning support, Neuro-Cognitive Therapy, and mediation and collaborative dispute resolution.
